WHY I DIDN'T MAKE NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS BUT WHAT I DO INSTEAD

Every year we all welcome a new year in with the same record playing. It's a New Year,  New Me and we dedicate an entire afternoon to making resolutions. Now, we have elevated our aspirations to finally becoming the person we want to be with vision boards and their chic parties. We fill these detailed journals with list of 30-50 things we probably wrote last year and the year before. You know what? I didn't do any of that this year. I didn't make a New years Resolution list or have any plans on attending a vision party---instead I compiled a list of new list of things I wanted to do before I walked fabulously into a new decade, 40BEFORE40.

I learned some valuable lessons from 2017 that catapulted my new way of thinking and and transformed my approach to living the rest of this life.  I learned that what is most important in our lives is to try live without fear as much as possible. Whatever the fear, we should conquer it while we’re alive if we want to be able to say that we led a successful life. I realized one of the main reasons why I haven't achieved certain milestones in my life is fear. Fear of rejection, fear of change, fear of judgement, fear of finances---the list could go on and on. Fear can be handicapping and place you in bondage. Whatever the fear, we should conquer it while we’re alive if we want to be able to say that we led a successful life. When drafting my 40before40 list, I thought of experiences and challenges, that would get me closer to living a more fulfilled, healthy and happier life.

With that in mind, I decided to put together a list of 40 things I would like to do before I turn 40. Disclaimer-- I have two of these lists. They’re not all travel related experiences, they’re life challenges as well but all together they are some things I really hope to get done before I enter the next chapter in my life. So with out further ado, here’s my list and I hope you’ll help encourage me to actually see this through! My resolution is to approach each day with an open mind, body and soul.

I remember when I first began reading blogs back in 2007 I followed a financial blogger, Chicky Finance, who had a personal challenge similar. Her personal challenge was to save a particular amount of money and when she reached her goal she would stop blogging and disappear. She shared her journey almost daily, giving us a documented experience of reaching milestones. Well, she is no longer searchable on any search engines. She reached her goal. And, I'd like to do the same---document my journey and share it with you.

This series will be pinned to the sidebar for the duration of my journey--3 years  and I will update as items are started, the process and the completion. I’ll probably also write an update post about them each one as I go along--the good and the bad. I hope you join me, encourage me and are inspired to make a list of your own.
