Last weekend, I had the pleasure of hosting Macy's Oak Court Come As You Art Beauty event alongside Valerie Calhoun of Fox 13 Memphis. Macy's invited beauty enthusiasts into the store, bright and early Saturday morning, to engage in a unique beauty experience. Guests received one on one makeup consultations on basic tips and techniques to achieve the perfect Fall Look. I captured the event from my eyes---shared on my Instastories , took notes on contouring and highlighting and snapped photos to share with you all.
I really really loved the format of Come As You Art!!! Each cosmetic brand demonstrated a particular technique---Dior showed you how to achieve the perfect brow, Bobbi Brown taught contouring and highlighting, MAC---eyes and so on, in a group presentation setting with a model. The guests seemed to be very eager and excited to participate in a more intimate and engaged format. I think with makeup, you really need the personal attention and demonstration. You can't take the makeup artist with you day to day, right?!
Technique wasn't the only topic. Brands like Fashion Fair, Clinique and CHANEL educated guests on proper skin care and also allowed them to feel and touch the product like Clinique's cleansing brush.
We all know the beauty in fragrance as well. There is absolutely nothing greater on earth than a woman who smells delightful. The ladies at CHANEL educated Valerie and I on the legacy and branding of CHANEL fragrance. The Macy's fragrance team Mrs. Roma and Jennifer took us on a tour de parfume lol with their collection of fragrances. KNOWLEDGEABLE INDEED!!!
After a couple hours of having so so much fun, the Macy's beauty team treated the ladies with gifts and more. There were women in the crowd who were in for a bigger surprise. Sherria, Oak Court's Cosmetic Manager, asked , " How many of my women in the audience are Breast Cancer Survivors?" You heard a moving applause, saw some tears, and witnessed a well deserved celebration of overcoming breast cancer. It was beautiful. Macy's closed out the morning well. These strong and resilient women were gifted plenty of hugs, flowers, handbags and even beauty makeovers.
I'm sure I can speak for Valerie but this was one special morning. I'd like to thank Macy's Oak Court for allowing me to join them again. I had a wonderful time and can't wait to work together again.
