Floral Crops

I've spent many days as a fashion stylist and designer seeing women's bodies. Some tall, some short, some pear shaped and some hour glass, some the perfect 36-24-36 and the conversation is always the same--some type of insecurity with their body. It's either my breast or my stomach is too big, my thighs are this or my shoulders are that. I myself am guilty of a little body insecurities. As I was talking to my friend Kim last night, who shot these images, I told her I don't think people realize "skinny" women have insecurities too. Here's mine---I'm in my 30s with the body of a 16 year old--seriously. I've learned however, to dress myself in a way that I embrace my itty bitty frame and try my best to dress like a "grown woman".

I am vertically challenged and have small frame so women's clothes tend to swallow me and make me appear to be playing dress up. Junior clothes are just to teeny booper Justin Bieber concert go-ish. I have never hated my 16 year old self enough to go under the knife or buy curves so I work with what I have.I've had to learn over the years as my lifestyle has changed and my style has evolved how to be creative in developing my wardrobe.

In this look, the baby doll crop top was originally a misses baby doll dress that once again swallowed me. I cut it into a crop top and paired it with grown women type of clothes lol. If you have a smaller frame, blazers are perfect to make you look more womanly and older. Play around with prints and colors and have fun with shapes. Always remember to accentuate the things you love about your body. I LOVE my stomach because after carrying an entire human in there for 9 months--it's still flat and I have no war scars lol...stretch marks. You may see me in a lot of crop tops, always showing a leg or two lol but I love to embrace my best qualities rather than dwell on what I lack.
