Style Inspiration : Brocade Holiday Looks

It's December!!!! My favorite month! It's time to celebrate family, holiday gatherings, and my birthday. I love this time of year because it's the season of sparkle, glitter, and pulling out your fancy garments that you don't wear everyday to toast at all of the beautiful holiday parties. Dressing for the holidays doesn't have to be over complicated at all. I'll share one of the easiest approaches to finding the perfect look---FABRICATION. Choose the type of fabric your garment will be constructed from and go from there. You have sequin, satin, chiffon, fur and one of my favorites BROCADE.

Brocade, in more traditional times, has always been perceived as a very rich and luxurious fabric. It's technique of construction and textile design puts it in a class of richly woven fabrics made from silk with gold and silver threads. Modern uses for the fabric doesn't require traditional means of construction and with technology we now use the brocade pattern in fashion garments. It's rich look and texture makes it one of my favorite textiles for holiday looks.

Keep in mind, the brocade look does not need to be overstyled. Simplicity is the key to avoid looking costumey. Mix textures in outerwear with a chic black faux fur jacket and one accessory piece. There is no need to over do it. The bold pattern in the brocade will be your statement piece.
