This past Sunday, more than 100 women gathered with their crowns shined and placed gracefully on their adorned coifs ready to be empowered, be connected and be beautiful. I, was given the opportunity to experience Rock Your Crown Empowerment Workshop as a blogger. I left apart of a sisterhood led by a graceful and gorgeous spirit, Zaniesha Davis, makeup artist and entrepreneur. Rock Your Crown, in it's second year, was created and designed to help embrace their grace and purpose using beauty as it's platform.
.: ENJOY BRUNCH :.
Brunch was catered and served by the oh so amazing and fabulous Chef Ragan Oglesby of Ladyfingers Catering. All of the guests enjoyed sensational smoked salmon, egg, veggie, and sausage frittata, shrimp and grits, french toast with berry compote and fresh fruit. The food was amazing as I knew it was. Whenever I see Chef Ragan on the bill, I know I will be beyond satisfied.
.: GET EMPOWERED :.
The panel was led by a group of powerhouse women who are bold and living purposeful businesses in their respective fields. Reverend Kia Moore, had women in tears as she spoke about the new season of "DO or Die" and rocking your grace.
One of my favorite sections of the workshop was the time to speak positive affirmations and do much needed mirror work as women manifested all of their hopes and dreams. The room was so serene as women looked at themselves for who they are and who they can be.
.: MAKE CONNECTIONS :.
It is to be noted and not taken lightly that Rock Your Crown brought forth a room full of queens. Women who are feminine yet have the strength to carry businesses on their backs and own and work them with grace. There were so many entrepreneurs, creatives, writers, and more in this workshop. It felt so good to connect and begin to see relationships root and blossom.
. : CREATE VISIONS :.
I LOVED watching the women go from writing all of their dreams on paper during the affirmation portion of the workshop. Next, Cassandra Webster of Pivot on Purpose, led a vision board party helping women to manifest those dreams visually. We all know the impact of setting a goal and place it where you can see it everyday.
.: LEARN BEAUTY :.
Exactly what everyone was waiting for after being motivated and inspired...LEARN BEAUTY. Zaniesha , Zii, took the platform and taught women an easy 10 minute application. It was similar in format to her Facebook Live videos that I stalk. Zii is known for being a makeup artist who has mastered enhancing a woman's beauty, making them look flawless and natural. Right by her side were some of Memphis well respected makeup artists and a few of her industry peers from Boston, MA and D.C. to assist everyone in the makeup application process.
Rock Your Crown was an experience I will never forget. It was so inspiring to be in a room full of positive like minded women. Witnessing the humbling desire to be empowered and supported by fellow queens was life changing. Zaniesha, lovingly known as Zii, has built a following and a platform embodied with purpose, passion, and grace that I truly believe will transcend many barriers. I look forward to next year's workshop and 100% confident that it will be even better than this year.
