I've begun to make my summer plans already and the first thing on my list is to go back to Atlanta for a couple of weeks. As soon as I unpack my bags, my plan is to head up 85N to SCAD Atlanta and visit the Carolina Herrera Exhibit "Refined Irreverence". This summer it's all about discovering who I am, the woman I'd like to project and who else better to use as a reference than Carolina Herrera.
Last summer, when I first arrived in Atlanta, the first thing I did weekly was take field trips to luxury stores in Lenox to visualize my brand. Carolina Herrera was one of the stores that made me gasp for air. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with the epitome of lifestyle luxury but more so you could clearly define the woman Carolina Herrera is through her garments, books, and colors even the smell of the store. I feel in love with the gracious and ladylike designer and began a quest to use elements of her brand for inspiration for my own.
The SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film and the SCAD Museum of Art present “Refined Irreverence,” a premier dual exhibition celebrating legendary designer Carolina Herrera. Explore a selection of Herrera’s runway looks, day wear, and bridal and red-carpet gowns worn by Michelle Obama, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Tina Fey, Renée Zellweger and Lucy Liu, as well as ensembles from Herrera’s personal collection.
Curated by Rafael Gomes, SCAD director of fashion exhibitions, “Refined Irreverence” celebrates the 35th anniversary of the House of Herrera with timeless work from the designer’s oeuvre. The exhibit shows now through Sunday September 25th at SCAD Fash 1600 Peachtree St.
