By far the most rewarding job in my life has been parenting. I know I may sound like a geeked up soccer mom but really it's true. There is no better title than "Amira's Mommy". This past weekend while ice skating at Atlantic Station I experienced a benchmark moment. I entitled the moment in my journal as LESSON LEARNED. Nurturing Amira everyday, I learned two valuable lessons in which I will share with you.
LESSON 1 : JUST DO IT...ALREADY!
Planning this casual holiday date out I knew I COULD NOT ice skate. Could I tell Amira that? Of course not! I had to go out there and conquer a fear and JUST DO IT... ALREADY. After 10 minutes of scooting around the rink, Amira was a great little helper and came and helped her mommy.
LESSON 2: ACT 1.. JUST ACT LIKE YOU'VE DONE THIS BEFORE
Amira has never physically gone ice skating before. You can't count her watching the little girl on YouTube she vicarously lives through that performs Whip My Hair Back and Forth during an ice skating tournament. Nope it doesn't count. But, she went out there like she's done this many times over. She was fearless! She owned the rink. I took some pointers lol. It's funny how we learn from our children.
Adult translation, look even if you fall get back up and gracefully act like you've done "this" before, whatever your this is. No one will ever know unless you tell them.
Live in Atlanta or just here for the holidays, treat yourself and your family to a memorable experience at Skate Atlantic Station this holiday season.
