It's Friday ya'll. Happy Friday! You've made it... If you work a 9-5 it's your chance to kick back, relax and hopefully enjoy the weekend. If you are a creative entrepreneur, hopefully, it's your chance to recharge and get out and explore and bask in inspiration. I wanted to softly start a series called The Weekender. It's my chance to share with you some of the things I look forward to over the weekend. It could be events, a Netflix and Chill with some documentaries I'm enjoying, cool places to explore, or a good book to curl up with. Here's to the first Weekender!
+ NETFLIX & CHILL
I love Netflix for so many reasons. Mainly, it is the best source for all kind of documentaries humanly imaginable. I love watching documentaries with subject matters that I can learn something new from. Remember, I'm the gal that loves multidisciplinary learning. I will take something from architecture, photography and even culinary and apply it to my line of work or just for personal development. A month or so ago, I stumbled upon Chef's Table on Netflix. The documentary goes inside the lives and kitchens of six of the world's most renowned international chefs. Each episode focuses on a single chef and their unique look at their lives, talents and passion from their piece of culinary heaven.
Thank me later for selling you the dream of really believing you are a chef lol. I was so inspired by watching the first few episodes. Each chef's story, their approach to pursuing their passion and honing their craft in such innovative ways, gave me a reason to believe again. I can't wait to catch up on the documentary.
+ CONTINUING EDUCATION
Hopefully, you know by now, I am working on a collection for Memphis Fashion Week. I think I've said it so much that I have caused myself to go into an unnecessary panic. I have started having dreams of missing deadlines so I take that as a sign. I need to move mas rapido. This weekend, I'm going to tackle completing my tech sketches and begin constructing part of the first look.
Oh and I'm not sure if all of you know but I am completely self taught. I have taught myself how to sew, how to illustrate, how to design my own website, design my own fliers using Photoshop, and now I will be teaching myself how to do flat & technical sketches over the weekend. There are so many available resources to learn anything you want in your industry. It's all about making a promise to yourself to always continue your education.
+MY READ OF THE WEEK
Lastly, I'm going to curl up at my grandmother's and finish reading The Four Agreements over the weekend. I have been so "busy" lately and not making time to read as I used to. I'm not too happy about that. Therefore, I am making an agreement with myself to complete this easy read over the weekend. Have any of you read it?
I hope you all have a great weekend and I look forward to catching up next week.
