One should never be wasteful especially when it comes to fabric. After cutting all of the pieces needed to make a garment, I always end up with scraps or remnants. How dare I trash leftover fabric especially sequin. So I decided to play around with a DIY project to make sequin pocket jeans. How stylishly resourceful huh?!
- a pair of jeans
- sequin fabric
- needle and matching thread
- craft paper
Ok so our first step is to trace the shape of your pocket on the craft paper and then cut it out.
Lay the shape onto the sequins, lining it up with the grain properly. I left the original pocket on because I wanted to have an option to take the pocket on and off.
Cut out two of the pocket shapes. Because my pockets weren’t completely symmetrical I flipped the cut out for the second patch so they mirrored each other.
Place the sequins over the pockets and sew them down..I know hand sewing is not what I particularly like BUT taking the sequins and jeans through my machines was torture.
And look what we have...What I love about this project is you can take the pocket on and off. These will be perfect for one of those tshirt and jeans kind of day.
